Vision Information Technologies, Inc. continues transformation in VisionIT Software and Technology Company – Goes beyond contingent labor management with VisionPRO

By | News and Events | No Comments

November 14, 2016 – Vision Information Technologies, Inc. has enjoyed a rich 20-year history as a provider of specialized IT Solutions, Professional Staffing, and Workforce Management.   The company has supported some of the largest companies in the world and will continue to do so.

As the company has grown, we have taken advantage of market opportunities and key partnerships.  A year ago the company created 3 separate companies with specific focuses and capabilities.  VisionPRO  www.visionproteam.com has excelled as an award-winning provider of IT & Professional Staffing resources.  VisionIT  www.VisionIT.com  has grown into a key purveyor of custom software development work for clients and developed a strong expertise in ERP cloud, mobile, infotainment, and IoT.   Prime Workforce Solutions was created as a joint partnership with another MSP provider to provide specific clients in the pharmaceutical industry with a Managed Staffing Solution for their enterprise.

While we have seen steadily improving margins in our VisionPRO business and exciting new market opportunities in our VisionIT company, Prime Workforce Solutions required increasing management team cycles without the expected return.  As a result, Executive Management Team decided to invest more management cycles on VisionIT and VisionPRO, focusing efforts on these higher performing businesses.

A decision was also made to exit the Managed Contingent Workforce Solution market, divesting the Prime Workforce Solutions assets.  We informed the impacted customers and employees earlier in 2016, providing for an orderly transition to other providers.

In order to further focus the Executive team efforts, David Segura remains CEO of VisionIT and will focus his full time on VisionIT technology practices and new software products.  Christine Rice, who has been serving as President of the joint business units now operates as the CEO of VisionPRO.  She will focus on growing the IT & Professional Staffing business.  Both will remain intimately involved in both VisionIT and VisionPRO as Owner/Investors.  Both VisionIT and VisionPRO have specialized executives in each business that are leading the day-to-day operations and growth initiatives.

Vision Information Technologies, Inc. has made the strategic decision to develop technologies that continue to change the way business operates while maintaining our commitment to provide IT staffing to specific customers.

“This is an exciting time for our business,” states David Segura, CEO of VisionIT. “VisionIT has become a global software development company and a preferred systems integrator for some of the largest software companies in the world.  Through our Innovation Studio, we are developing new technology and helping our customers and partners gain a competitive edge in ERP, cloud, IoT, mobile, infotainment systems, virtual/augmented reality, and analytics.  As technology continues to enable work processes, VisionIT recognizes the need to support these new technologies with comprehensive solutions.”  Examples of the company’s focus are the development of a secure patient care collaboration platform for healthcare professionals called “CareTrail”, as well as new Integration Practices with SAP and EMC.

“VisionPRO has always been and remains a top choice for companies looking for a staffing partner with unmatched recruiting capabilities, talent communities, and employee engagement programs,” says Christine Rice, CEO of VisionPRO.  “People remain at the root of all we do.  Much of our culture is focused on delivery, so clients really rely on us for some of their most critical resource needs. ”  VisionPRO continues to win awards for client satisfaction and will always be dedicated to developing top talent for clients on a contract-to-hire, contract, and permanent placement basis.

Both the technology solutions and professional and IT staffing businesses allow clients, partners, and employees to operate with a competitive advantage.  The specific focus of both companies, coupled with the knowledge sharing of each management team uniquely position VisionIT and VisionPRO for significant growth and profitability for years to come.

Motor City Named Best City for Women in Tech!

By Christine Rice, President, VisionPRO

As a female executive at an IT services company, I am particularly aware of the growing reliance the U.S. will need to place upon women in the workplace, to drive innovation, leadership, productivity, and even the health of the U.S. economy. I know that as the country now depends greater on knowledge and work done with the mind as opposed to work done with the hands, women represent the greatest potential for increasing a technologically-trained workforce.

Yet, I also know that there is much progress to be made towards this end. The average percentage of women working in the tech industry is a mere 30 percent, based on diversity reports published by 11 of the world’s largest tech companies last year. So, I couldn’t have been more proud of my home town of Detroit when I read a recent article featuring a new study by SmartAsset which found the best city for women in technology is far and away Detroit!

The study, which analyzed Census Bureau data for insights about women in technology, says relative to other cities, Detroit’s tech sector has a lot of women, with 44.5 percent of all tech jobs in the city filled by women. In addition, they actually get paid significantly more than men – 122.8% of men’s pay. And, Detroit has an extremely high growth rate in the tech sector, with three-year tech employment growth reaching 32 percent.

I am particularly proud of these findings, because for years I have been steadfast and committed to increasing opportunities for women in technology. It is beyond gratifying to see the work that I, and so many others, have dedicated to furthering this cause begin to make a difference. Our company, Vision Information Technologies, continues to drive our mission of supporting women in technology in Detroit and around the country. Not just because it is a core value of our company, but also because we know the business impact gender diversity can bring to our clients and companies around the world.

In fact, in Diversity Inc.’s top 50 companies, gender diversity accounted for a difference of $599 million in average sales revenue. And, organizations that support diversity and inclusion at high levels, saw an 80 percent improvement in business performance. The research is clear, workforces made up of diverse skills and backgrounds are able to deliver better performance, and innovation.

I encourage Detroit’s business and community leaders to continue this extraordinary progress we have made, by supporting women in IT through internships, training, and educational opportunities. By doing so, we will all thrive and succeed in the future.

New lab’s first project to improve medical communications

By TOM HENDERSON Crain’s Detroit Business

Vision Information Technologies Inc. is cooking up a new tech laboratory, and its first project is intended to help doctors, nurses and others in health care solve a knotty problem — communication.

Microsoft Inc.Henry Ford Health System and Detroit-based Vision Information are collaborating on a cloud-based system called StatChat to let health care professionals track patient care remotely — whether they’re on a desktop computer, iPad or smartphone.

It will be the first product developed by the new VisionIT Innovation Center that Vision Information plans for its New Center headquarters.

Vision Information has hired Detroit-based firm dPop! to design the center. Though the build-out hasn’t started, David Segura, Vision Information’s founder and CEO, said he has hired 25 employees already working on projects, and he will hire 125 more over the next year.

The innovation center will work on a wide variety of projects. Some will be owned by Segura’s company, some will be joint ventures with other large tech companies, and some will be stand-alone businesses for which he will seek venture capital funding.

VisionIT was one of the first institutional investors in Michigan eLab, an Ann Arbor-based VC firm founded in 2012 by four Silicon Valley veterans. Segura said eLab would be a natural fit if he needs capital to grow a business, including StatChat if it has the kind of growth he anticipates.
