Case Study: Making “Preferred” in Healthcare Staffing

Contract Labor Services in a VMS Program

Situation If there is a help wanted sign posted outside the door of this healthcare provider’s offices, it will read something like, “Looking for an extremely strong IT vendor for our staffing and managed services business needs. Vendor must work well with others, have a sound process improvement background, be able to hit the ground running with faster cycle times, and have managed maintenance and cosourcing service experience.” This looks like many of the jobs VisionPRO posts to attract niche IT talent while applying the latest tools and technologies to meet the special project needs of our clients. With our healthcare client’s $30M in annual IT spend and 15% goal for diversity spend, VisionPRO was designated to the top of their Preferred Staffing Vendor list. Our history as a proven IT staffing supplier, as well as our expertise in managed services and impressive track record and understanding of IT projects checked all the boxes. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, we put a team in place and began providing oversight in IT project management and guidance.
Solution Account manager Jen Beveridge and our Pittsburgh delivery team, along with the help of our Detroit based Delivery Center, work with client hiring managers and remain flexible in hiring fluctuations and proactive in their recruiting initiatives. The team’s delivery typically exceeds the 80% to 85% submittal Response to Requisition time required by the client. We work seamlessly using the client’s sPro implementation — a VMS developed by PeopleSoft that distributes client job openings, and manages submittals, interviews, and work orders. Many of the job orders involve highly complex IT systems and VisionPRO has far exceeded contingent labor and permanent placement initiatives, filling positions in Pittsburgh and the Harrisburg area.
Results VisionPRO has placed 150 IT workers in the roles of Business Analysts, QA Testers, Project Managers, Mainframe Programmers, and Java Developers with this client. Soon after signing the contract in 2010, we transitioned 45 workers at a reduced rate to VisionPRO employment from ‘de-sourced’ vendors, bringing unexpected savings to our client. We continue to exceed expectations and recently won a major hiring initiative for permanent positions through a new partnership the client obtained that will vastly expand the already large client organization. In describing the opportunity that will develop from this initiative, Jen states, “it is both exciting and rewarding to be a valued partner playing a role in this organization’s expansion into new areas of healthcare. They have changed the face of healthcare in the region, and we’re proud to be supporting that. The high level of client engagement demonstrates their dedication to success. We are also offering IT professionals the opportunity to elevate their career by introducing them to opportunities to work on innovative technology projects within the healthcare space.”This dedication to success is similar VisionPRO’s promise to our people — to represent talented professionals by making sure they are set up for success from the day they start to the day they successfully complete a project.
