Situation In the area of ‘bring your own device’ reality, companies question whether this is secure enough for their intellectual property. Mobile devices are quickly becoming the primary tool for personal communications and computing, and when mobility is a vehicle to enterprise data, there is potential security risk. Scanning corporate email needs the security that firewalls provide and this automotive technology supplier was facing these security challenges. The Supplier wanted to implement a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution that would aid in securing their enterprise data, while allowing access through mobile services. The MDM solution required support on multiple platforms (iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 8) and also the ability to enforce security policies while preserving personal data on employee-owned devices connecting to the enterprise through a BYOD program.
Solution Since 2008, VisionPRO has been providing the Supplier with IT consultants on a variety of projects involving LAN Refresh, Mobility Management Maintenance, SAP, and End User Support. One of the more highly visible projects were lead by VisionPRO’s skilled and experienced IT Program and Project Management resources who were engaged to develop a plan from analyzing to implementing to providing ongoing administrative support for mobility device management. The first phase was to harness a live test environment for the purpose of analyzing the functionality and whether it would meet all of the Supplier’s requirements. The second phase involved integration of the final MDM solution. In addition to coordinating the installation of the physical hardware and network connectivity, the plan also included developing and documenting SharePoint sites for Admin Support and Employee reference to documents, links, user guides, etc. and the following:
